Shattered Glass Review

This early 2000s film follows the career of Stephen Glass, a young journalist striving for success. The film explores journalism’s flaws that are portrayed through Glass’ fabricated stories. He rises up in with the newspaper The New Republic as a very admirable writer and editor who his coworkers praise. The movie really shows just how crucial it is for people to research every news story being told in a newspaper and how every journalist is not the honest and trustworthy person they may appear to be. The story also teaches the lesson that you can’t get away with everything and people will and can always find a way to shed light on your mistakes. The movie shows an intriguing side of the newspaper industry and the director and actors did a good job at playing their roles. Hayden Christensen does a great job at playing Stephen Glass as he leaves the audience wanting to know more about what goes on in Glass’s mind and what leads someone to fabricate in the way he did. Overall, the film depicts the importance of honesty in an industry that focuses so much on fact checking and credibility.
