Spotlight Review

The movie “Spotlight” was a huge hit in 2015. The film follows the spotlight team at the Boston Globe as they cover the excruciating timeline about priests who molested young children. While the film may show some boring scenes inside a newspaper company, the sequence of the film is suspenseful and keeps you on your feet. The more information the team finds out about, from 13 to 90 priests being convicted, the more exciting the film gets. The film truly shows just how important it is for journalists to get involved in stories that fight against big leaders, like the church. A crucial moment in the film is when Michael Rezendez starts yelling at Robby in the newsroom about how he wouldn’t get the story out right away. He yells about how they should not hesitate and repeats over and over that “it’s time”. The scene really brings out the message that no one should be above the law and that reporting on these events is crucial in the justice system. Overall, the film was produced spectacularly and the actors did a really good job with their roles.
