Student Opportunities

We are always interested in adding highly-motivated and hard-working students to our team. We accept and train students at any level and from a variety of backgrounds and educational programs.

Graduate Students

Dr. Green-Miller advises students for multiple academic programs, as well as serving on committees both at University of Illinois and other institutions.

Students may be accepted in the AWES Lab for any of the following degrees:

  • Master of Science in Agricultural and Biological Engineering
  • Master of Science in Animal Science
  • Master of Science in Technical Systems Management, focused on Animal Systems
  • Doctor of Philosophy in Agricultural and Biological Engineering
  • Doctor of Philosophy in Animal Science

Potential graduate students should contact Dr. Green-Miller (angelag@illinois.edu) with an expression of interest to work in the AWES Lab.

Visiting Scholars

We welcome international students, postdocs, or faculty for short-term research experiences (ideally 6 months -1 year or more) as a part of their degree programs, provided they are supported with funding from their home institution, government or self. Visiting scholars from international institutions should initiate contact with Dr. Green-Miller.

Undergraduates

We welcome undergraduate students to work with our team. Opportunities are available to earn course credit or receive pay. Typically, students first complete an independent study for credit and then qualify for an hourly paid position. We will consider any degree program (though most commonly our students are from ABE, An Sci, TSM, or other engineering program). We will consider any level from freshmen to senior, but require a high level of commitment to responsibilities in the lab. Interested undergraduate students should send a resume and cover letter stating your interest in AWES Lab to Dr. Green-Miller.
