We have invited renowned food studies scholar and international journalist Fabio Parasecoli to speak about the key themes of globalization of food and cultural identity that underline the academic inquiries of the new Summer and Fall study abroad programs at the Illinois Center in Rome.
The new Summer and Fall Programs in Rome use interdisciplinary approaches to critical food studies, and through the curriculum and excursions throughout Italy, address issues ofsustainability, food security, economic trade, national nutritional policies, business, marketing, communication, cultural heritage, and tourism. The Summer program will also offer optional internships.

ACES in France at Purpan – Wednesday, October 8 from 4:00 – 5:00pm in the Morgan Caterpillar Room of the ACES Library
Hannah, a Crop Sciences student and Purpan returnee, will share what it was like to study at Purpan and live in France. The summer program at Purpan gives students the opportunity to study French agricultural production and intern on a French farm.

We’re holding a study abroad information session today that focuses on programs in the UK and Ireland and on the British Exchange Program. Although it’s aimed primarily at English department majors, any student who’s interested in BEP study abroad options could benefit. Please share this with your advisees, and let them know they’d be very welcome to attend. We’ll have students on hand who have studied abroad to answer questions and share tips.
