Illinois Fulbright Week: Explore Fulbright Grant Opportunities, April 14 – April 20!

The Fulbright U.S. Student Program awards 2000 scholarships annually for studies, research or English teaching in 150 countries. U.S. citizens who are current juniors, seniors, graduate/professional students, or alumni may apply. The National & International Scholarships Program will host Illinois Fulbright Week from Thursday, April 14 – Wednesday, April 20, featuring events for juniors, seniors,  graduate/professional students and alumni who wish to explore Fulbright opportunities and begin preparing materials for the Fulbright Priority Deadline of July 1, 2016 for grants beginning in fall 2017.  See full session descriptions here: http://topscholars.illinois.edu/FulbrightWeek.

Congratulations on your University of Illinois academic and personal accomplishments thus far!  With some effort, you may be on your way to garnering scholarships for continued study or research. The National and International Scholarships Program is here to assist you through the application process.  For Juniors, Seniors and Graduate/Professional students (generally 1st-year), now is the time to start your applications. To find out what you should be doing to meet the June 1 priority application deadline (for study beginning in fall, 2017), come to an informational meeting at one of the following nine times:

 

Monday, March 28: 1:30-2:00, 2:00-2:30, 3:30-4:00, 4:00-4:30

Tuesday, March 29: 1:30-2:00, 2:00-2:30, 3:30-4:00, 4:00-4:30, or 5:00-5:30

FRED S. BAILEY INTERNATIONAL SERVICE TRAVEL SCHOLARSHIP FOR CAUSE-DRIVEN LEADERS
The Fred S. Bailey International Travel Scholarship program will fund up to 75% of the total cost of international travel with a service component.  Awards range from $600-$1800.  Eligible applicants must have been involved in the program (academic or extracurricular) for a minimum of one semester before traveling. Recipients will be selected on the basis of their demonstrated commitment to the project/program, long-term career goals in international development or related fields, the trip’s potential impact on the student’s learning and professional development, potential for positive impact on the host community and financial need.

FRED S. BAILEY INTERNSHIP SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM FOR CAUSE-DRIVEN LEADERS

Are you interested in an unpaid internship but are concerned about the financial hardship it may cause? The Fred S. Bailey Internship Scholarship Program for Cause-Driven Leaders offers undergraduate students at the University of Illinois who receives an unpaid internship with a public service agency or not-for profit organization is eligible to apply. Awards are $1,000 for a part-time internship or $2,500 for a full-time internship and are given directly to the student.

for Community Leadership, Service, and Activism
Deadline: 2/15/16

The Fred S. Bailey Fellowship for Community Leadership, Service, and Activism supports University of Illinois Urbana campus graduate students who have shown a strong commitment to community organizing, activism, and/or service in one or more of the following areas: social justice, environment, global engagement, and/or interfaith cooperation.

Eligibility: 

  • Candidates must demonstrate passion, commitment, leadership and impact towards Social Justice, Environment, Faith in Action, and/or International issues
  • Candidates must demonstrate how their efforts represent new and innovative ways to address issues of social justice, environment, interfaith cooperation and/or global engagement and/or have significantly expanded existing efforts.
  • Candidates in all academic disciplines are eligible. Applicants must be pursuing a doctorate, master’s or professional degree. Tuition and partial fee waiver may not be available for students in all programs, particularly cost recovery or self-supporting programs. Please contact your departmental representative for its policy on courtesy tuition waivers.
  • Candidates must be enrolled as a graduate or professional student at the Urbana campus of the University of Illinois as of August 26 of the funded year.

​Award Information
A $12,600 (9 month) stipend.  Tuition and fee waivers are included for all recipients except those in cost recovery or self-supporting programs.  Students in those programs are only eligible for the stipend.

Udall Scholarship for Environmental Careers OR Native American Affairs – Info Event!

Calling all environmentalists: Udall Scholarship 2-day info event November 12 & 13!

 

The Udall Scholarship awards $7,000 to sophomores or juniors committed to a career related to the environment *OR* to Native American sophomores or juniors interested in tribal policy or health care. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, or U.S. permanent residents.

 

A successful applicant will have a GPA of 3.0 or higher and demonstrate leadership and a commitment to service.  We are looking to nominate students who are taking action to address environmental concerns or concerns related to Native American tribal affairs.  The University of Illinois may nominate up to 6 candidates for the award; if you are considering applying, join our information event:

  • Thursday, November 12, 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.—Information session & discussion with former Udall Scholar-This session will be held in IUB Room 504

KEVIN T. EARLY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

for Freshmen Students

 

Deadline: October 30, 2015

Amount: $2,000

Eligibility: Any student with freshman standing at UIUC for the 2015-2016 school year and who has demonstrated an aptitude for and a skill in writing poetry.

Rules: Students must submit 5 poems. The complete manuscript should not exceed 5 pages. For more details please see attached flyer.
