University of Michigan Biostatistics Prospective Student Day Nov 2nd

Below, please find an announcement regarding the Department of Biostatistics at the University of Michigan Prospective Student Information Day which will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2013. The purpose of this event is to provide information to students who may be interested in graduate study in biostatistics. We expect this will include undergraduate and masters students who have identified biostatistics as their interest area, as well as students who are completing an undergraduate degree in math, statistics, biology, or some related discipline, and have not yet decided on their future plans.

At the event, presentations by students and faculty will focus on what biostatistics is and what biostatisticians do, on the outstanding job opportunities in biostatistics, and on the admissions and financial support opportunities in our Department.

We would be very grateful if you would bring this Information Day event to the attention of any potentially interested students or colleagues. We also would welcome your attendance or that of any of your colleagues if you should be interested in learning more about our program. For more information, directions to Open House and to pre-register, visit our website at http://www.sph.umich.edu/students/prospective/information_day.html. Alumni Career Panel October 24

It’s time for the annual English Department Alumni Career Panel!

Take this opportunity to interact with English and Creative Writing alumni currently working in the fields of law, law enforcement, corporate relations, academic administration, and publishing.  In addition, our panelists have worked in other areas along the way (including editing, alumni relations, marketing, event coordination, teaching, and more), so they’ll have plenty of advice to share about career development before and after graduation and about how to successfully navigate the twists and turns of professional life.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to find out about our alumni mentoring network, open to English and Creative Writing majors.  This event features a panel discussion with plenty of time for Q&A and delicious refreshments for all to share.  Please see the poster attached.

Date: Thursday, October 24
Time: 4:00-5:30 PM

Campus Honors Program

A Campus Honors Program (CHP) Course Request Form for non-CHP Students is available in the Honors House (1205 West Oregon, Urbana, IL) and the CHP website (http://honors.illinois.edu/?Q=honorscourses) which will allow excellent undergraduate students who are not in the Campus Honors Program to take a CHP course – if space is available and with the approval of both the course instructor and the CHP.  We will accommodate such requests from qualified students who have a 3.3 cumulative GPA or higher as long as (1) the instructor consents (2) enrollment limitations are not exceeded, and (3) the course requests of Chancellor’s Scholars have been given priority.

Printed copies of the CHP Course Descriptions can be requested from Susan Schmall-Ross (schmallr@illinois.edu) in the Campus Honors Program office.
