Writers Workshop–New Call for Peer Tutors

The Writers Workshop announces the peer consultant program for 2015-2016.  We are looking for students from all majors who will be sophomores, juniors, or seniors next year with good grades and excellent communications skills; they should also enjoy working with other students.  If you are considering a career in teaching, writing, editing, consulting, or helping people learn English, this is the kind of valuable experience you (and your resume) need!

HOW THE PROGRAM WILL WORK:  Peer consultants will apply this spring and, if selected, begin their training in the fall of 2015.  They’ll take WRIT 203-Issues in Tutoring Writing-for 3 credit hours in the fall which will include at least 2 hours of class meeting and 3 hours of observation each week.  In addition, there will be course readings, responses, and a final research paper.  After the training semester, consultants will work with undergraduate writers on a regular weekly schedule in the spring of 2016 for independent study credit.  Consultants who have finished their first year may be chosen to continue consulting for an hourly wage.
