SAO-LAS: Stockholm Summer Arctic Program(GLBL/SESE/SCAN386 at 6 credits)

In this intensive five-week program – for science and non-science students – discover how climate change is altering one of the world’s great wildernesses and then conduct research that will help map a sustainable future for the Arctic. UIUC students participate together with students from Sweden’s KTH Royal Institute of Technology. The first part of the program will take place in Stockholm.  This year’s field sites will be located in Northern Sweden, with time spent in Kiruna, followed a stay in the Swedish mountains at the Tarfala Research Station, and ending with a stay at the Abisko Research Station near Lake Torne Träsk.  
 
Applicants must have junior status or consent of the instructor.
