Course Structure & Content

The course is designed to prepare incoming international students for your successful transition to college life at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). The course is about living, learning and (eventually) successfully leaving the University of Illinois.

 

Timeline

  • 2 online course meetings during summer in August. On Tuesdays at  7:00-9:00AM  Central Standard Time (CST).

  • 1 on-campus welcome event will be held before in the last week before the school start – August 22nd at 6pm!

  • 8 on-campus meetings will occur during the first 8 weeks of course from 6-7:50pm once a week (either Tuesday or Wednesday)

What You Can Expect

  • Start building your network – meet great facilitators, interns, peer mentors, instructors and other new students

  • Take one step ahead of your peers –  use some of your summer time to know about U.S. college life

  • Plan for your 4 years of personal and academic /professional development

  • Prepare for your college life – examine your expectations for college life in the United States, in UIUC

  • Explore the purposes and values of the higher education experience from a US perspective
