Internal Imaging of Concrete Elements

Abstract:The ultrasonic shear wave array method is an emerging mechanical nondestructive testing technology that provides visualizations of the internal structure of concrete members. The authors review the application of the method, demonstrate an example NDT field application, and propose improvements to the method’s existing data analysis procedure for concrete deck thickness measurements. Ultrasonic Analysis Modifications for Imaging of Concrete Infrastructure

Abstract: The conference paper discusses modifications to the standard synthetic aperture focusing technique for improved imaging of concrete materials. Experimental evaluation was performed on three modifications to the velocity estimation, direct wave suppression, and attenuation compensation methods. Results show potential for improved performance beyond the standard imaging methods. Authors: James A. Bittner, John S. Popovics Full read more »
