The goal of this assignment was to analyze Adler, Lamott, and Bradbury’s pieces on communicating a message as a writer and comprehending it as a reader. I did quite well on this assignment, receiving a 9.21 out of 10. I struggled a little bit with MLA format on this response as well. I forgot to double space and include a header. My first sentence was a run-on and I fixed that by rearranging/taking out words from the sentence. I also did not realize until Professor Mary pointed out that short pieces of writing get put in quotes. In this response, I italicized “How to Mark a Book” rather than properly putting it in quotes. Besides that, I only had to make a couple more punctuation revisions. This paper taught me the purpose behind reading and writing. In this past, I never really cared about why I did it. I just did it because I was told too. I was taught how to identify messages and how to write more powerful papers.
