Elizabeth Ericksen

Elizabeth Ericksen teaches violin and viola at Carleton College (where she is a Senior Lecturer in Music) and at her home studio. She is a founding member of the Sartory String Quartet.  Recently, she retired from MacPhail Center for Music where she taught violin and viola and coached chamber music at the Sartory String Quartet Institute.  In the summer, she has worked as a coach for the GTCYS Summer Orchestra Camp.  She has presented sessions on string pedagogy with an emphasis on Paul Rolland ideas at the MNSOTA All-State Workshop and at MacPhail.  Liz has served as President and Secretary of the board of MNSOTA, the Minnesota chapter of the American String Teacher’s Association. In 2019, MNSOTA presented her with the “Master Teacher – Studio Award”.  Her mentors include Paul Rolland, Mary West, and Joseph Gingold.
