Essay 2 Reflection

Essay 2 Reflection

I will be reflecting on the writing and revising process of my first toulmin analysis paper. The idea of this essay was analyze a political party’s stance on an issue. I walked into this unit panicking because I just knew that it would take forever to write this paper because it did not interest me. I hated everything that had to do with politics, for it was not something that I exactly kept up with. The fact it was an analysis paper did not make it any better.

After being introduced to the toulmin analysis method, I felt like I knew enough about analysis papers so that I would not just be blabbering on about unimportant information like how I was forced to do in high school. The toulmin analysis gave me a guideline to be a better analyzer.

Fortunately, I received an A- on the paper, but the paper could have probably been an A or A+ if I had looked over my paper a few more times. I missed one word and that made my whole analysis on the backing aspect of the toulmin analysis seem contradictory. Also, in my analysis of the backing aspect of the toulmin analysis I did not make it as clear as to why an example that I included was not backing some of the warrants I mentioned as I could have.

To revise my essay I corrected all of my grammatical issues. Most of these grammatical issues including me embarrassingly misspelling Libertarian. I also substantially revised my essay by editing my argument as to why there are not any good backings of the warrants presented in the Libertarian stance on abortions.
