Help Desk Webpage

The Help Desk webpage covers topics such as building access, the wireless network, and printing. If you cannot find the information you need, please contact them for more information.

Further details about everything listed below (and more, including printing) can be found on the iSchool Knowledgebase.

Laptop Requirements

The iSchool requires that all MS, PhD, and CAS students own a laptop. Click here for current recommendations.

If you are taking online courses, you will also need a headset with a microphone.

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

The University requires 2FA to access many resources on campus. Click here to set up 2FA and recovery options.

Box Drive

Before you can access files stored in Box at Illinois, you need to claim your Box account. Find instructions here to claim your account.

Canvas

Class course spaces are hosted in Canvas.

Zoom

Claim your Illinois Zoom account.

We recommend downloading (and regularly updating) Zoom to your computer. When logging in, click the SSO button and input Illinois as your domain.

VPN

To access on-campus resources from off-campus, you will sometimes need to use a virtual private network (VPN). Please note that if you are trying to access library resources, you will need to select “tunnel all” instead of “split tunnel” when logging in. Information on how to download and install the VPN can be found here.

Software

As a UIUC student, you have access to free and reduced-price software which you can acquire through the WebStore!
