Elsie Layman, Editor-in-Chief
Elsie Layman is a second-year law student at the University of Illinois. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology from Trinity University. Last summer, she gained practical experience as a summer associate with Fish & Richardson, where she assisted in drafting legal memoranda and documents regarding intellectual property issues. In her free time, Elsie enjoys hosting paint-and-sip parties.
Anastasiia Cheban, Managing Editor
Anastasiia graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Political Science. She will graduate from the College of Law in 2026. She is interested in corporate and bankruptcy law. In free time, Anastasiia enjoys ice skating and baking.
Jessica Bury, Notes & Articles Editor
Jessica received her bachelor’s degree in Anthorpology from the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor. Before law school, Jessica worked as a legal assistant at a small litigation firm focused on Workers’ Compensation. Last summer she externed with a Magistrate Judge in the Northern District of Illinois. She is a member of the College of Law Class of 2026. She is interested in corporate and food law. In her free time, she enjoys roller skating, winter hiking, and watching Canadian geese.
Tyler Lewis, Notes & Articles Editor
Tyler graduated from the University of California, Santa Cruz with a degree in linguistics and in history. Tyler will graduate from the College of Law in 2026. Before attending law school, Tyler worked as an analyst on behalf of YouTube and Facebook including stints as a substitute teacher and salesman. Tyler’s hobbies include foraging for mushrooms, making and using homemade dye, watching classic and foreign film, and playing pinball.
