CSL COVID-19 Session

Time: Feb 25th Afternoon, Virtual zoom link (Coming Soon!)

COVID-19 has fundamentally disrupted the way we live. Countless organizations, including government bodies, academic research groups, and companies, are developing and deploying technology solutions to combat the spread of COVID-19.

We believe a university such as UIUC can play a crucial role in enabling technological solutions as they are viewed as relatively trustworthy entities by the public. In this COVID19 session, we would like to discuss the learning that we culminated over the last one year about fundamental aspects of how we live.

This session covers five such fundamental topics: biological/medical, technology (for eg. contact tracing), economics, AI/ML usage for COVID19, and public policy. We will be inviting prominent speakers from academia, industry, and government to discuss their learning and opinions. We will then have a panel discussion with these speakers to address the questions raised by the public.

In the session, we will try to cover aspects such as what worked and what did not and what changes would have greatly helped to reduce the impact of the pandemic in our lives; along with what you can do as a part of your research so that we are ready for the next pandemic. We are excited to discuss these facets of the impact that the COVID19 pandemic had on our lives and hope to see you in large numbers during the conference.

University of Illinois Urbana Champaign has developed and deployed at scale some of state-of-the art COVID19 testing and contact tracing techniques and continues to develop and foster newer innovations. Coordinate Science Laboratory (CSL) is a unique interdisciplinary research laboratory that develops breakthrough technology that transforms the way we live, work, and play and continues to innovate in these unprecedented times.
