Call for Abstracts: 57th Actuarial Research Conference, August 3-6, 2022
The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is proud to host one of the premiere international academic conferences in the actuarial community — the 57th Actuarial Research Conference (ARC). The 57th ARC is going to take place between August 4 and 6, with a reception on August 3, 2022. Please mark your calendar for this exciting event!
The ARC provides an annual opportunity for academics and practitioners to meet and discuss actuarial problems and their solutions. The conference is the central meeting point in North America for academics, researchers and practitioners from all over the continent and the world to gather and address all aspects of actuarial science. The ARC promotes all topics in education, research and industry engagements.
The 57th ARC will bring together experts in all areas of insurance and actuarial science. To promote industry and research collaborations, only in-person sessions are planned for this conference. Social events such as a banquet with a music performance and guided tours to the University of Illinois botanic gardens and the Japan House are planned for conference attendees and their significant others.
All researchers, practitioners, and students* working in Actuarial Science and related areas are invited to submit a proposal for presentation at the 57th Actuarial Research Conference. All in-person presentations will be recorded and made available on-demand to registered participants after the conference.
*If the presenter is a student, a brief recommendation letter commenting on the content and originality of the project is required from a faculty member at the same university. Please enter the name of the nominating faculty in the submission form (linked below); the recommendation itself should be sent separately via email to ARC-2022@illinois.edu. The subject line of the email must include the student’s name and a PDF of the letter of recommendation must be attached to the email.
Abstracts may be submitted via the web form at the link below. The abstract submission deadline is May 1, 2022, May 15, 2022, at 11:59 p.m. (UTC-5). We will notify you of our decision by May 30, 2022.
Poster Session
The poster session is a good opportunity for researchers and students to present and discuss their research interests with a wide range of audiences and plenty of time for Q&A. Please send us your poster via email (ARC-2022@illinois.edu) by June 1, 2022. Your submission should be a one-page pdf file.
57th Actuarial Research Conference Presentation and Poster Competition
Students are encouraged to participate in presentation and poster sessions at the conference. This competition is hosted exclusively for students by the Education & Research Section and sponsored by the Leadership & Development Section of the Society of Actuaries. Each winner will receive an electronic certificate, and names of all winners will be posted on the website of SOA’s Education & Research Section. There is also a $500 prize award for the best presentation. To enter the competition, please make sure to complete your submission and have your supporting faculty submit a recommendation letter to ARC-2022@illinois.edu.
The SOA’s Committee on Knowledge Extension Research (CKER) is offering travel grants up to US$544 to graduate students pursuing a Ph.D. from the U.S., Canada or Mexico, who will be presenting at the 57th Actuarial Research Conference. Please see application details here.
