Stockholm Summer Arctic Program

SAO-LAS: Stockholm Summer Arctic Program: Application Deadline extended to March 15th!
  
This summer, discover how melting glaciers and sea ice are altering one of the world’s great wildernesses and changing the lives of Nordic and indigenous people. In this intensive five-week program, learn about issues related to climate change and human presence in the Arctic through interdisciplinary perspectives. Industrial heritage studies with relevance to heritage management will be another focus of the program. 

University of Illinois students will participate with students from KTH-Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden, and will spend two weeks in the Arctic. Field site locations include Northern Sweden, Kiruna, and the Swedish mountains at the Tarfala and Abisko Research Stations.  

2014 Program Dates: June 2 – July 4, 2014
6 Hours of pre-approved credit available as one of the following cross-listings: GLBL 386, SCAN 386, or SESE 386
