Undergraduate Research Symposium 2014

The 7th Annual Undergraduate Research Symposium will take place on Thursday, April 17. If you have been working a research project with faculty, or as part of an independent study course, or perhaps a unique course project (not scripted homework, but an independently developed project), then you should consider turning it into a poster or presentation for the URS. The deadline for proposals is Thursday, February 6 has been extended to Thursday, February 20.

Even if you don’t have something completed or near-completed, there’s still time. Perhaps there was a course or topic in a course that really fascinated you. You could spend this semester further studying the topic independently or with a group of fellow students and apply your work to a particular example or data set. Stop by my office to see the poster two of your fellow Stat students (Jay Shin and Joseph Jang) constructed for last year’s URS.

This is an excellent experience and looks great on a resume or CV. Even if you don’t submit and present this year, it’s an event worth attending, especially for newer students. Thursday, April 17. Illini Union.

Proposal Deadline: Thursday 6 20 February at 11:59 PM.

Questions should be addressed to ugresearch@illinois.edu
