PORTUGUESE: Registration Info for Sring 2014

Starting this Monday, November 4th, students will begin to register for Spring 14 classes. We would very much appreciate it if you could forward this email (+attachment) to your list of potential Portuguese/Brazilian Studies students.

Why learn Portuguese?
Portuguese is one of the main romance languages and its study opens many doors to the current vibrant world of Portuguese speakers. The knowledge of Portuguese has become more and more valuable for many careers in both the private and public sectors. It is a proven plus for speakers of Spanish and other romance languages in international and Latin American studies, business, and in fields such as law, banking, civil service, and the natural and social sciences. But that’s not all.

Please note:
1. We’ll be offering the Brazilian Culture though Advertising class again (in English w/o pre-req) and welcome students from any major.
2. Students who have never taken Portuguese (even if they speak Spanish) or have been exposed to very little language should enroll for PORT 400. This is NOT a 400-level course; it’s a beginner class!

Today and in the decades to come, a professional who speaks Portuguese and is familiar with the Brazilian culture will be allowed access to a myriad of new work and investment opportunities and will, therefore, better utilize all the knowledge and skills acquired throughout his/her academic life.

We look forward to having you in our program. Let us be your window to a global career!
Cheers/Abraços.
