Marandagahamula Grain Storage Complex Opened

The government of Sri Lanka opened a grain storage and trading complex at one of the country’s leading wholesale paddy markets where 60,000 tons of grains can be stored. Smallholder Farmers’ Highway to Food Markets

A July 2013 FAO report, “Smallholder Integration in Changing Markets”, emphasizes the heterogeneity of subsistence farmers, concluding there is no one-size-fits-all approach. Agriculture Needs Technological Solutions

A former Kenyan government official remarks on Rwanda’s progress in leveraging technology to improve agricultural productivity. The introduction of the East African Commodities Exchange (EAX) allows farmers access to trade and financing through use of electronic warehousing receipts. Tanzania: Commodity Exchange Market to Help Farmers

Food Security Takes Center Stage during President’s Last Day in Senegal

President Obama’s visit to Senegal highlighted the country’s recent announcement of its intent to join the New Alliance for Global Food Security and Nutrition. Parliement Approves 19.1 Million Loan to Ensure Food Security

Ghana approved a US $19.1 million loan to alleviate poverty by increasing agricultural productivity and ensuring food security in farming communities. U.S Contributes $7.9 mn to UN’s Food Program

USAID contributed US$7.9 million to the UN World Food Program towards projects that are working to improve agriculture and market access for smallholder farmers in Uganda.
