Project Overview
Funded through the College of Engineering Strategic Instructional Innovations Program
The goal of this project is to intentionally and strategically improve the student experience in our Introduction to Electronics course (ECE 110). This project is part of the College of Engineering’s Strategic Instructional Innovations Program. ECE 110 is a large lecture course (~400 students per semester) and is often a students’ first exposure to electrical engineering. To improve the course we are trying a number of pedagogical revisions:
- Create greater alignment between the lectures and the laboratory to maximize student learning
- Redesign the website and course lecture notes using assertive headings and worked examples
- Reduce students’ test anxiety and increase learning during testing through second chance testing
- Improve students’ sense of belonging in the department through Merit collaborative-learning workshops
