Grant-writing and Development Intern

Ninth Letter, the University of Illinois literary journal, is seeking a Fall 2018 Development and Grant-writing Intern. This internship involves 4-5 hours/week of work helping identify and tap  funding sources for this publication and will begin mid-September. Successful applicants are required to enroll in English 199: Internship Seminar (a online one-credit, 8-week course that begins October 22, 2018).

Duties may include:

  • Searching potential grantors on the Foundation Directory Online (and any other available resources)
  • Identifying the sources of funding used by other similar publications
  • Researching alumni contributors and past editorial staff to identify potential donors
  • Working with LAS Advancement and the U of I Foundation to devise a fund-raising strategy
  • Starting the grant application process, if possible
