Dates: April 8-14, 2013
Theme: Bringing together our campus, our community, our world.
International Week at Illinois is comprised of a series of educational, cultural, and recreational events designed to foster interest in our global community. Coordinated by International Programs and Studies and a cross-campus organizing committee, the goal of International Week is to raise awareness about the breadth of international education, activities, and resources at Illinois. We draw both of existing programming /activities and encourage units & RSOs to develop new events during IW.
Currently-Planned / Recurring Events
- Travel Around the World Fair: Wednesday, April 10, 2013 (ISSS)
- Study Abroad Fair: Wednesday, April 10, 2013 (SAO)
- Alumni Lecture: Thursday, April 11, 2013 (IPS / Alumni Association)

Budget / Co-Sponsorship
The International Week budget is relatively small. IPS kindly requests that participating units offer what they can. Contributions generally range from $50-250 per unit. The bulk of our funds are used to pay for advertising (Daily Illini, posters, radio ad) and general promotional efforts.
Communications / Advertising
IPS takes the lead on advertising but requests that participating units assist in this process as much as possible, for example, by adding a blurb about International Week promotional materials for individual events, linking to the International Week calendar on their own website, posting relevant information on their Facebook and/or Twitter feeds, and/or making announcements to their list-serves.
International Week Advertising
- International Week webpage (http://ilint.illinois.edu/iw/index.html); looking into linking from the main U of I site
- posters, flyers
- Daily Illini ads
- social media: Facebook, Twitter, Sina Weibo
- WILL radio
- C-U community calendars
- (possible) Short promotional video.
Notes
- YMCA is generally willing to offer space for events that compliment their international mission.
