Biography

Joseph is a 2015 graduate of Texas A&M University Health Science Center MD/PhD program, in Bryan Texas. He defended his dissertation on “Ethanol’s effect on stem cell subpopulations and the implications for cortical patterning and development”, in the Department of Neuroscience and Experimental Therapeutics, in the laboratory of Rajesh Miranda, PhD. He subsequently went on to study the molecular genetics of Theiler’s Murine Encephalomyelitis virus (TMEV) in causing strokes and seizures in a murine model for neurological disorders, in the laboratory of Julian Leibowitz, MD/PhD. Joseph joined the Steelman lab in the summer of 2021, with interest in the immunomodulatory mechanisms of upper respiratory viral infections and the molecular pathways that contribute to disease pathology in multiple sclerosis. In his spare time Joseph likes to play chess and to go deep sea fishing.
