About

Academic

I am graduate student in Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I work with Prof. Paul Selvin in Physics department broadly in the area of single molecule biophysics. I first studied biology in my graduate school and immediately felt overwhelmed as well as intrigued by it. How different proteins (and DNA, RNA etc.), with their different shapes and functions, co-ordinate with each other to accomplish tasks of cell and make up a whole working organism, was just fascinating. I had never visualized having billions of tiny machines working with absolute perfection that constituted my physical existence. Just fascinating, isn’t it?

Personal

I grew up in small town Jhunjhunu in the state of Rajasthan in India. My initial education was in Adarsh Vidya Mandir school which introduced me to Sanskrit language and texts of Sanskrit at very early stage. Philosophy of Yoga and concepts of Dharma (closest english word for Dharma would be duty or eternal principle) have always inspired me and I am a lifelong student of inner sciences. I love reading poems and nonfiction books. Geetanjali by Rabindranath Tagore and Rashmirathi by Ramdhari Singh Dinkar are my favorites. I am also interested in teaching, education policy and entrepreneurship.
