I am very passionate promoting physics and astronomy to a broader community, especially to women and underrepresented groups. In my years living in in China I was vice-president of Youth Astronomy Society in Peking University ( one of the earliest-founded student astronomy clubs in China!), co-organized outreach events in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and annual Chinese Amateur Astronomers Club meetings, and was chief editor on the club journal and newsletters.
During my years in USA, I am an active member in Women in Astronomy & Women in STEM @ UIUC. I am interested in mentoring young women and LGBT students who are new to the field and raising awareness of unconcious bias for women in STEM fields , having mentored both undergraduate students and new graduate students.
My teaching philosophy is mainly adding computer programming and interesting numerical problem-solving tasks into the current physics & astronomy curriculum, as current physics education lacks the computational and statistical components to help students break into research and further their careers. During graduate school, I was course assistant in both undergraduate Computation in Astronomy (ASTR310) and graduate Computational Astrophysics(ASTR510).
In part time, I am also interested in working in projects that bridge science with art & music.
