About Me

Hi there! My name is Molly Gates, and I’m a sophomore at the University of Illinois. I’m studying Agricultural Communications with a concentration in Advertising and a minor in Food & Environmental Studies. Most people have no idea what all that means, and, to be honest, neither do I.

My career goals are pretty scattered. I want to be an egyptologist with a masters in HR who is an expert in nutrition and works at a high school and also owns a farm. You can imagine how stressed my parents are. But seriously, I hope to work in advertising or PR for a food or agricultural company. So if you know anyone hiring, let me know – I’m going to need it.

As you are reading this, I am most likely watching a Netflix documentary. I’m a sucker for a good agricultural or environmental campaign. My all-time favorite is Cowspiracy, a documentary about the effects that animal agriculture has on the environment. Riveting, I know. I’m a huge supporter of the vegans. Me? No, I’m not a vegan, but I aspire to be one some day.

I’m in a sorority on campus (wait, the unnatural blond is in a sorority?), Kappa Delta. I am on the executive council, and I serve as Vice President Member Education. I absolutely love the friends that I pay for.

I’m the rare human that actually recreates the Tasty videos that you see all over Facebook. I enjoy cooking, but I’m no good at it. I stick to the recipe like glue, but I still never manage to get it right; however, that’s never stopped me from destroying my mom’s kitchen in an effort to prepare dinner.

That’s literally all there is to know about me.

Oh, and my second favorite food is pot stickers.

NOW you know everything about me. So please enjoy my blog that I was required to make for my Intro to Journalism class!
