Event Type: Virtual Discussion Group
Date: Friday, February 12
Time: 3:00-5:00 PST (5:00-7:00 CST)
Event Description: Since its inception, the theoretical frameworks undergirding Trans Studies have largely been shaped around white, anglo-queer theory and anthropological studies of gender variance. Panelists Talia Bettcher (CSULA), Pedro (PJ) DiPietro (Syracuse University), Hil Malatino (Penn State) and Andrea Pitts (UNC Charlotte) explore the relevance of María Lugones’s philosophy to a re-understanding of trans and nonbinary oppression and resistance within a decolonial feminist framework.
Co-sponsored by the Department of Philosophy and the Center for the Study of Genders and Sexualities at California State University – Los Angeles.
