Reflection of Rhetorical Analysis

The assignment was to choose a non-fiction source to analyze. The goal of this assignment was to analyze using the toulmin analysis. There were many non-fiction sources I could’ve chose, but I decided to use an advertisement. The advertisement I decided to use was for Kellogg’s PEP vitamins.

Before I began writing this essay, I used the toulmin analysis worksheet provided by the professor to make sure I could fulfill each part of the analysis with my ad. After doing this, I began writing my essay, and mine was based off a summary of the ad. Although I used the toulmin analysis in my essay, I didn’t use the exact words of the analysis (ie: Thesis, Warrant, etc). This is where the revision came in play.

While revising my essay, I added more summary of the ad to give better clarification of the ad, and I also used more words of the toulmin analysis. At first I was having a hard time using the exact words because I didn’t know how to use them or get them to fit in my paper. After some rewording, I was able to make these changes.
