Mentoring a Hunt for Hunt Camp

Are you a seasoned hunter or trapper that would like to donate your time in order to help introduce someone new to the outdoors? You have come to the right spot. One of the things that really sets Illinois Hunt Camp apart is having so many mentored opportunities for adults. It can be quite difficult for adults who don’t have a mentor in their life to break into the hunting or outdoor world. Being able to go out and hunt with someone who has a bit of experience can mean the world to someone looking to get their feet wet and is the best way to help someone new get into hunting.

While taking someone new is reward enough, for those mentors that make it to Hunt Camp, we will have a special prize portion just for hunt donors.

Examples of what we are looking for include (but definitely aren’t limited to):

  • Agreeing to take a winner and a plus one on a squirrel hunt on your private spot sometime in early December
  • Letting a winner and a plus one come along on a raccoon hunt with your dogs
  • Accompanying a winner on a morning and evening sit at your favorite public archery deer spot
  • Going fishing at a good spot you know and bringing a winner along

Anything outdoor related is wonderful — we strive for diverse experiences, including mushroom hunting, bird watching, snow shoeing, hiking, and any other activity you’re into and willing to share with someone willing to learn, and these would all also count as a “mentored hunt” donation.
