Dina Izenstark is an assistant professor in the Department of Child & Adolescent Development, San José State University. She received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the Department of Recreation, Sport, and Tourism and her Ph.D. in Human Development & Family Studies from the University of Illinois. Dina’s research interests focus on connecting families to nature. Specifically, she studies the effects of nature on individual mental health and family functioning outcomes. She also is an experienced park and recreation professional with two years full-time and six years part-time experience in a variety of recreation management positions.
