Ruoyu Sun

Ruoyu Sun is a visiting researcher at FAIR (Facebook Artificial Intelligence Research). He will join UIUC IS&E department as an assistant professor in 2017. Previously he was a postdoctoral scholar in the Department of Management Science & Engineering, Stanford University. He obtained his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering at the University of Minnesota, and received the B.Sc. degree in mathematics from Peking University, Beijing, China. His research interest lies in large-scale optimization and its application in machine learning and signal processing. He received the second place of 2015 INFORMS Nicholson student paper competition, and the honorable mention of 2015 INFORMS optimization society student paper prize.
