Preface

Dear Family,

I hope everything is fine on your end. College is fine, so far, and I’m having fun. Meeting new people and making friends was amazing! School work is also fine, for now. I expect things to get more difficult, but that wouldn’t be a surprise. In fact, I have to write a research paper for my rhetoric class, and I have to pick a topic for my paper. I have many ideas for my research topic that I’m having a difficult time picking one.

One of my first ideas involved writing about current events, so this would involve issues that show up on the newspaper or on T.V. I could possibly write about the decisions of America going to war in the middle east. The topic of police brutality is also a major issue right now; I could research where brutalities usually happen. And on the topic of police, researching if inequality exists when arresting someone would be interesting. There is also a lot of controversy over the Confederate flag, so looking into the history of the flag could explain the arguments it arose.

Aside from current events, I was thinking of writing about a morale issue. The topics that come to mind are abortion and death with dignity. Both of those topics interest me and are very debatable issues, which is why there are many laws based around the two decisions. My final idea was writing about an issue on something I love to do, and that is, as you may know, playing video games. The idea I had for the gaming topic was gender inequality within the video games. Times have moved on, so making comparisons between gender inequality before and now within games would be interesting.

That is all all that I had to tell you, for now. I don’t know which topic to pick for my paper, but eventually, I hope I’ll be able to make up my mind on one topic. If you can, let me know which topic interested all of you the most, and I might decide to write about it, if I feel like it’s a topic I really want to go in depth with, that is. I’ll update you on my journey through my writing class, and all the changes I do. Of course, I hope you learn a thing or two along the way!

Until next time!
