About the Group

How are engineering scholars and faculty, such as those participating in the NSF PFE: RIEF program, trained and integrated into the engineering education community?

The goal of the EER Mentor Network (EMN) is to connect new engineering education researchers to the larger engineering education research (EER) community and support their sustained engagement in the EER community and their success in research. The EMN is committed to building a community of practice with multi-modal communication styles which nucleates engineering faculty mentorship pairings. This group was formerly called the RIEF Community.

Mentor participants in the EMN will benefit from making connections with other mentors, promoting their research interests, and honing their mentorship skills. Mentee participants in the EMN receive guidance and access to resources, opportunities, and support useful to conducting EER, and increase their network of potential collaborators among established and new EER professionals.

Our team also conducts research in the space of mentorship in engineering education, particularly among recipients of the NSF PFE: RIEF award. We explore the preparation of mentee training in the RIEF program, best practices of faculty peer mentorship, and the path taken towards integration of new EER professionals.
