Recently, after careful research and constantly keeping up with the news, I have chosen a topic for my research paper. The topic I have chosen is the war between the two terrorist forces Al Qaeda and ISIS. The research question I have come up with is “How will the war between terrorist groups benefit the United States?” I find this topic extremely compelling because the war on terror has been in the news since as far back as I can remember, and now two of the worlds largest terrorist groups are at war. The outcome of this war is uncertain. However, in retrospect, this war is being fought between two of the most volatile organizations in the world. Therefore, I believe that no matter who wins, there will only be a positive outcome for the United States. Although the war is not taking place on U.S. soil, it is still a crucial topic. This war will weaken the infrastructure of two major enemies of the United States. The topic will allow me to learn more about both terrorist groups, and keep me interested in the research throughout my time writing this essay.
