Rhetorical Analysis Reflection

The Rhetorical Analysis essay was the first major essay of the semester. Through writing this essay, the most important skill I have learned is how to differentiate between summary and analysis. Through writing this paper, I have learned to look deeper into the meaning of text, images, and objects, rather than just jumping to conclusions. Furthermore, by writing this essay, I have learned the importance of referencing the grading rubric. Throughout the process of writing this paper, I referenced the grading rubric only once. This was a mistake that I don’t plan on making again. By only looking at the rubric once, I overlooked important directions regarding the Toulmin analysis which resulted in a point reduction in my grade. After writing this essay, I have always referenced the rubric multiple times prior to turning in a paper. In order to revise this paper for the semester portfolio, I plan on elaborating on the parts of the Toulmin analysis which I missed. In order to improve this essay, I must elaborate more on the parts of my argument such as my theme, support, and warrant. Furthermore, I plan on removing redundancies and obvious statements from my essay in order to develop a more concise paper.
