Teaching Wirelessly with Tablets

Faculty have been involved in teaching wirelessly with a tablet over the years. But up until now this has been quite a task requiring money and resources available to only a select few. Starting with the introduction of the iPad and Apple TV, and catching on quickly with other platforms, teaching wirelessly on campus has become a reality. The College of Education, who have been investigating this technology with the Center for Innovation in Teaching & Learning since the start, have embraced it and have installed Apple TVs in a majority of their departmental classrooms and conference rooms. Further, Technology Services has begun a pilot in numerous general assignment classrooms on campus to gauge interest and test wireless presentation equipment. While still in it’s infancy, it seems to be a useful technology to promote student engagement and collaboration in the classroom.
