“Frontiers of Causal AI”

Talk Abstract: Understanding and reasoning about causality is crucial for AI-driven data science and decision-making tasks. In this talk, I explore the frontier of causal AI, motivated by our experiences building a suite of causal tools and libraries and their applications across industrial, agricultural, advertising, health and other domains. At this frontier, I will highlight several open research challenges at the intersection of causality and machine learning, and discuss exciting new directions and possibilities.

Bio: Emre Kıcıman is a Senior Principal Researcher at Microsoft Research, where his research interests span causal inference, machine learning, and AI’s implications for people and society. Emre is a co-founder of the DoWhy library for causal machine learning.
