About

Pi Tau Sigma was created in 1915 at the University of Illinois by three upperclassmen studying mechanical engineering, A.F. Barron, R.C. Maley, and O.C.K. Hutchinson. The purpose of creating such an entity was threefold: “to foster the high ideals of the engineering profession, to stimulate interest in co-ordinate departmental activities, and to promote the welfare of its members.” Since then, we have continued pursuing these goals with utmost tenacity, in addition to expanding the scope of our organization. Pi Tau Sigma now has chapters in over 170 universities and continues to promote excellence worldwide in the field of mechanical engineering.

The University of Illinois has the honor of hosting the centennial anniversary of Pi Tau Sigma at Urbana-Champaign. The convention will be held from Thursday, February 26th to Sunday March 1st. We hope to host the largest convention to date, so we would love to see you there!
