Study and Intern on Food in Rome, Italy – Deadline Extended

In addition to the 50+ study abroad programs with extended application deadlines, Illinois Abroad and Global Exchange has extended the deadline for our Signature Program, Study and Intern on Food in Rome, Italy.  The deadline for the summer programs is now Thursday, March 15.  The courses have been pre-articulated and students can earn ANTH, FSHN, AGCM, and ITAL credit!

Additionally, students in this program will:

  • Understand the role of food in human cultures as well as the range of food choices in Italy and elsewhere.
  • Experience food production first hand and spend 3 days in the south of Italy, visiting farms and food production facilities, exploring the origin of the Mediterranean diet.
  • Learn about the history and the culture of the Mediterranean diet through sensorial labs, cooking classes, tastings and special visits.
  • Communicate using food by making professional video documentaries.
  • Live and study in the heart of historical Rome, just minutes away from the Colosseum and the Vatican, with internships available throughout Italy.

If your students are more interested in a semester program, the deadline for the fall program, Sustainable Italian Food Systems in Rome, Italy, is April 1.
