Our Facility

PNC Laboratory is housed at 316 Louis Freer Hall, 906 South Goodwin Ave, Urbana, IL 61801.

Our research space consists of approximately 2500 sq. ft of dedicated experimental and office spaces. We have two EEG testing chambers, an experimenter control room, a dedicated room for body composition assessments with a dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry scanner, access to a fully equipped metabolic testing room, and a brand-new phlebotomy laboratory. To facilitate our interdisciplinary research, the PNC laboratory is outfitted with motion sensors and inclinometers for objective physical activity and sedentary behavior monitoring, a metabolic cart for assessing peak oxygen uptake, and an EEG system for psychophysiological and cognitive testing.

• TrueMax 2400 (Parvo Medics) indirect calorimetry system
• Neuroscan 64-channel Synamps system with Curry 8 X data acquisition package for the electroencephalography (EEG) data recording, sintered Ag/AgCl Neuroscan Neo Net electrode caps for the collection and analysis of EEG, event-related brain potentials (ERPs)
• E-Studio software for the development of cognitive tasks, stimulus presentation, and acquisition of behavioral data (reaction time, accuracy)
• Access to the Horizon DXA System (DXA; Hologic Horizon W, Marlborough, Massachusetts)
• Access to equipped phlebotomy research space
