Welcome to the 2019 Amazing Illinois Race!

Over the course of seven weeks, we will attempt to walk around the world on our version of the Amazing Race. It’s not a literal walk around the world; obviously, we will be counting our steps.

This year’s teams will consist of walkers from the College of Education, Gies College of
Business, the College of Fine and Applied Arts, the Graduate College, Prairie Research Institute, and Technology Services. Last summer we had 344 participants walk more than 171 million steps, which is almost 81,000 miles!

Teams of six will be formed to make the trip around the world together. Along the way, we will have a series of events to enhance your trip to wellness this summer, such as a scavenger hunt, health and wellness workshops, and other college-wide activity challenges. Bonus steps will be awarded to those who participate in these extras!

Please note that you do NOT have to be on campus to participate in this initiative; you can be away and still record your steps. You can count other activities through the use of the
conversion chart which will convert your activity into steps.

We invite and encourage you to register today. Click here to sign up. The 2019 Amazing
Illinois Race will officially begin June 3 and conclude July 21. The committee will be forming teams the last week of May, so please register prior to the start date to participate; however, you can join at any time.

Four years ago, Art & Design Professor Stephen Cartwright designed a traveling trophy that will go to the college with the most steps per capita for the duration of the trip (adjusted for different size colleges). Bragging rights are definitely at stake here!

This is a great way to get to meet new colleagues and represent your college in a fun and
healthy way. We hope you will join us this summer.
