STUDY ABROAD HONDURAS SUMMER 2013

Program Details

This program, in partnership with Zamorano University and the Honduras Spanish Center, provides participants a unique set of experiences in an interdisciplinary and multicultural setting. Come and learn about food systems, cultural aspects of designing technologies to deliver nutrition, intricacies of school lunch programs, and share your perspectives with peers from over 20 different countries.

 Program components

1. Conversational Spanish: provided by the Honduras Spanish Center.

2. Family-Living Experience: an introduction to the Honduran culture and language.

3. Experiential learning:  Hands-on activities on different aspects of the agri-food system at Zamorano University.

4. Research and Service Learning: participate in collaborative research projects led by Dr. Andrade directed at exploring topics such as food insecurity, low-cost fortification technologies, and adequate nutrition in low-income households.

 

Program duration: 4 weeks, May 12-June 9,  2013 (Summer Session I)

Cost: $2,900 –  $3,200 (all inclusive, scholarships available–up to 60%)

Eligibility: Undergraduate students, (first preference ACES students)
