Become a Woodrow Wilson Teaching Fellow.
Now more than ever, high-need urban and rural secondary schools need dedicated and powerful teachers
in the STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) fields. The Woodrow Wilson Teaching Fellowship
recruits high achieving candidates who have the drive to become teachers—including graduating college seniors,
recent graduates, armed forces veterans, and mid-career and second-career professionals.  Fellows begin with an
intensive master’s degree program interwoven with a full year in the classroom, then commit to teaching for
at least three years in a high-need urban or rural school district.
 
Woodrow Wilson Teaching Fellows Receive
Admission to a master’s degree program at a participating college/university in
*Indiana    *Michigan    *New Jersey    *Ohio
Preparation for teaching certification
Support and mentoring throughout the four-year program
$30,000 stipend in the first year; salary during the three-year teaching commitment
Lifelong membership in a national network of intellectual leaders as a Woodrow Wilson Teaching Fellow

Location: Shropshire, England

Program Summary: This program explores an entire region – the most rural, beautiful, and sparsely populated of England. We will study market towns, farms, breweries, pubs, tea rooms, restaurants and food stores, as well as Ironbridge Gorge (home of the Industrial Revolution which, among other achievements, gave us cast iron cookware that revolutionized the kitchen) and the nearby multicultural metropolis of Birmingham where the Cadbury family established its chocolate empire. Includes pre and post-departure coursework on campus.

IFE, a French not-for-profit educational organization, offers Field Study and Internship programs in Paris, Strasbourg, and Brussels. The Field Study and Internship program makes use of the professional workplace as the ideal cross-roads for encountering France, Belgium, and Europe today, as well as an opportunity to carry out a field research project related to the student-intern’s academic or career goals. The program includes intensive classroom preparation, a three-month, full-time internship chosen to match each student’s objectives, a guided independent study on a topic closely tied to the intern’s mission, and a structured framework of accompaniment throughout the semester. IFE works with students from all major fields and career tracks.

Apply to be a John Graf Intern at the Illinois Leadership® Center!  This is a paid year-long internship for the 2014-2015 school year – there are 4 positions available!
What is the John Graf Internship and what do interns do?
·  Coordinate and implement leadership development programs (I-programs)
·  A personal and professional development opportunity to develop communication, networking, program management, and leadership skills
·  Conduct Leadership workshops for students and staff around campus
·  Recruit Graf Interns for the next school year
Requirements for candidates applying for the internship are:
·  High academic achievement (a minimum GPA of 2.8/4.0)
·  Junior or Senior standing during the term of the internship
·  Available to work 15 hours per week

World Quantitative and Science Scholarship Program

The WorldQuant Foundation was established to make a positive impact in the world through targeted donations to qualified organizations and students worldwide. Every donation is made with the aim of producing a long-lasting and beneficial change in the recipient and his or her society.

The WorldQuant Foundation will offer a World Quantitative and Science Scholarship Program to benefit outstanding students who are highly motivated, committed to pursuing higher education in the fields of science and quantitative studies and have a demonstrated financial need.

To apply for a scholarship, applicants must submit their academic performance and resume. Teachers’ recommendations are optional. Applicants may optionally compose and submit an essay outlining the following:

SAO-LAS: Stockholm Summer Artic Program 2014
“Environment and Society in a Changing Arctic”

Program participants will learn about issues related to climate change and human presence in the Arctic from interdisciplinary perspectives.  UIUC students participate together with students from KTH – Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden and will spend two weeks in the Arctic (in Svalbard, Norway or Lappland, Sweden). Enrollment is open to both science and non-science majors with junior status or instructor’s consent.
 
Program Dates for 2014:

Money for Travel to Sweden – Anna Jensen Award

The Department of Germanic Languages & Literatures is pleased to announce an award competition to facilitate study abroad in Sweden during summer 2014 or academic year 2014-15.  The Anna Jensen Memorial Scandinavian Award is a prize in the amount of up to $1,500 to facilitate study or research in Sweden.  To apply, please submit a 500-word application statement and include your most recent University of Illinois transcript (unofficial is fine). Ideal applicants are students who have been taking Scandinavian courses, or who articulate plans to do so during their time of study abroad. The statement should clearly outline:
 
• your reasons for applying
• how a period of study in Sweden is important to your studies and to your future career plans
• how you expect to use the award (you may include a basic budget)
• what your plans are to continue Swedish and Scandinavian Studies once you return.
 
You may also address in your application if there are special needs or circumstances that motivate your application.  Submit all application materials to the mailbox of Dr. Mark Safstrom, 2090 Foreign Languages Building by 4:45 PM on February 7, 2014.

Open exclusively to seniors at the University of Illinois interested in pursuing a Master’s Degree at Stockholm University.  Stockholm University offers 76 Master’s programs in English language within the faculties of the humanities, social sciences, law, and natural sciences.  Scholarship covers the cost of tuition and living expenses for two-years while working on Master’s, or one year of work on a law degree.  For more information and how to apply visit the websiteThis opportunity is designed specifically for an Illinois student in recognition of the strategic partnership between our campus and Stockholm University through the INSPIRE program (http://inspire.illinois.edu).  To apply for the fellowship, an eligible student must first apply to a Stockholm University M.Sc. program by January 15, 2014, and then submit a one-page motivation statement by February 1, 2014
