Technology and equipment added in 2014

One of our team members, Jeff Ginger, complied a report on the number of computers installed as well as additional technology placed at our sites from August until December 2014. These computers and kits allowed us to continue our programming and build community-based collaborative spaces.

We acquired, updated, imaged and installed 83 computers at all locations (5 at The Urbana Free Library (TUFL), 22 at Tap In, 32 Urbana Neighborhood Connection Center, 12 at Champaign Public Library, and 12 at Kenwood). In addition, we updated and maintained 9 existing laptops and all media-maker gear at TUFL.

Jeff and the Fab Lab also prepared and deployed all other equipment (tablets, projectors, small board electronics kits, art materials, etc….). This equipment and deployment was done with assistance from Hailley Fargo, Travis Faust, and Chinedu Onyejekwe, a Fab Lab staff member. All digital learning kit acquisitions have been made with documentation and we are currently under budget, allowing for some additional funds for future purchases. Shortly, we will have price lists and a “wish list” of sorts for the kits we have created thus far. You should be able to find these lists under our “Nuts and Bolts” page.
