Fall semester has been a rush of infrastructure development at all of the DCEO sites. We quickly established computer labs and comprehensive software arrangements for each location so they could support programming of many kinds, from computer basics to advanced media production to makerspace activities. Following this we began to deploy the mobile digital media learning labs. Due to varying demands and existing resources at each site we determined it would be best to merge and condense the kits and purchase multiple instances. This resulted in sets of digital art and fabrication tools at the Champaign Public Library and UNCC as well as sets of small board electronics at The Urbana Free Library and Kenwood Elementary. Our next steps will be to train DCEO and community site staff to better support their computer infrastructure and, following this, move forward on deploying a mini Fab Lab kit, and likely an audio production set.
