CPL Update (with photos!)

Lots of great work has been happening in the Teen Space at the Champaign Public Library. Our Community Ambassador, Sarah, has been able to capture these moments on camera. Enjoy!

First up, some photos from a teen who has been playing around with using a digital camera. It was his first time using a digital camera so his photos show his exploration stage. His focus was getting use to zooming in and out of a shot. He was able to capture a relaxing day in Teen Space, where teens were hanging out and playing some Mario Cart.

Our next set of photos are more jewelry photos. This project has continued to take off in Teen Space, especially with the boys. Some observations from Sarah:

One necklace was made, and the other is in process. Both necklaces are by the same boy.  It’s interesting, because the boys are sharing files they like, but changing the necklace layout to suit their preferences (hence why you see some repeat necklaces).  The green one is a file he made in Silhouette himself, after he decided it looked better when he drew it himself using the grid versus when he tried to trace the image he wanted.  The gold one is a shared file, but he decided he wanted the necklace to hang horizontally instead of vertically.

Our final set of photos comes from the teen who was working on a game to show off at the University of Illinois’ Public Engagement Symposium. Digital Literacy for All Learners had a poster and lots of adjoining tables from our various sites (more on that to come). Here’s some shots of his game in progress (he was using RPG Maker).
