Getting started…

How do you envision that integration between online and face-to-face in your course?

The first step to create or re design your course into a blended format involves thinking about the goals and objectives of your course, the expected outcomes, your teaching style and the way you believe your class will better combine the strengths of the face-to-face and virtual environments.

Think about these items to give you the starting point to work on your course:

  1. Goal/s: What is/are the overall goal/s of your course?
  2. Performance Objectives: Performance objectives are measurable and align with the main goal/s of the course. What will your students achieve in the different modules? (Objective Builder may help you to create objectives)
  3. Learning Outcomes: What are your students expected to know, understand and/or be able to do at the end of a module and of the course?

The big picture will have to include decisions about your instructional method, how you will organize and present your content, identifying in class and online activities  that help students achieve the goals of your class,  deciding good assessment techniques and a clear communication pattern, and embedding that in the logistics of our college and campus. The First Things First article will help your thinking, and will be followed up by meeting with our eLearning specialist to make decisions about your course.

The process of creating your course will go from Planning to Designing and to Teaching, and you will be helped every step of the process by staff from the eLearning Office.

Then, during the semester, we will support and evaluate the process to ensure quality and constant improvement as shown in the image below.
