Biography

Thiago S. F. X. Teixeira is a PhD student in Computer Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, working with Professors David Padua and William Gropp. Under the XPACC project, he is designing and developing libraries and annotations to support autotuning that will be able to explore the space of implementations and seek the best version for each target platform. Prior to joining the University of Illinois, Thiago worked for 6 years in the research and development of parallel scientific applications for the oil and gas industry. Thiago holds BS and MS in Computer Science from the Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brazil. His Master’s dissertation, entitled “Parallel Seismic Migration Algorithm for Heterogeneous Platforms”, was awarded as the best dissertation in Computer Architecture and High Performance Computing by the Brazilian Computer Society in 2011. Thiago is specially interested in compilers, large scale parallel systems and in the efficient use of heterogeneous environments with accelerators.
